A summary of the department’s growth in research may be gauged from the increase in intake from four PhD and three M.Sc. registrants in the first decade since inception, to sixteen PhD currently. Four broad thrust areas have been singled out for research investigation: Chemical Processes, Energy, Unit Operations and Computational Chemical Engineering.

Research Infrastructure Details
To support physical and chemical vapor deposition systems in the college Solar Cell fabrication lab, the department has added analytical instruments such as
