Activities – General Management
A Brief Introduction
The faculty members in the department have been taking the general and core subjects like Statistics, Operation research, Entrepreneurship development, Strategic Management, Principles of Management etc. This provides the basics of management education. Apart from the above the department conducts the subject related workshops, FDPs, MDPs, Yoga, CSR, Guest lectures etc. The activities of the department work like linking all the other departments and support for achieving the common objective of the Institute.
Develop the required knowledge and skills for achieving excellence in the field of General Management.
- To be student centric by responding to their needs in various subjects related to General Management.
- To provide a platform for the students to develop the required skills in General management through value added programs.

The department works like a link between other departments like Finance, HR and marketing. It involves in Entrepreneurship development programs, CSR and other programs. It is also involved in conducting few general programs like movie making by students, Documentary making, social responsiveness programs etc. The department organises faculty development programs, management development programs, Innovative management workshops for students etc which will improve the life skills of students and prepare them to be Industry fit.
A workshop was organized by the department titled ““Relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s thought to Indian Business Industry” on 12th January 2017. The resource persons were Dr. Arathi, Dr.S. Ranganath and Prof. N.Suresh
A Seminar was conducted on 31st march 2017 and the topic was “The Total Supply Chain Management” and the resource persons were Mr. P. Srinivas Rao and Mr. Naveen Chandra
A workshop on “Strategic Positioning in Conceptual Age “was organized on 13th November 2017 and the resource persons was Mr. MadhukarRajendra founder & CEO of Leopard Hill Global Learning.
One of the programs which has brought laurels to the department is the program on Entrepreneurship by collaborating with AWAKE the Institute which encourages the women folk. An exhibition was organised on 16th December 2017. Honourable VC of Bangalore Central University was kind enough to inaugurate the program. Following is the glimpse of the above.

Dr. Harald Becker ,Deutsche Management Akademie Niedersachsen (DMAN), Germany visited RVIM on September 20, 2017. Academic Collaborations was discussed with the Dr.T.V.Raju, Director,RVIM. He also addressed the students of III Semester MBA.
Mahakavi Valmiki Jayanthi
Mahakavi Valmiki Jayanthi was celebrated on October 5, 2017. Dr. S.R.Leela,Former Member of the Legislative Council, Government of Karnataka and Former Professor and Head, Department of Sanskrit,NMKRV College for Women, Bangalore addressed the gathering. She provided a lot of insights on Valmiki Ramayana,Tulasi Ramayana and Kamba Ramayana. Faculty members and students of III Semester MBA attended the programme.
Constitution Day-November 26
Constitution Day (National Law Day), also known as Samvidhan Divas, was celebrated on 26 November, 2017 in the campus. This day is marked to commemorate the historical event in drafting of the Indian Constitution. On 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, and it came into effect on 26 January 1950. The preamble of the constitution was read by all the students on the day by using original extract picture from the internet. Few students prepared posters and literary display materials. All were displayed on the notice board for a wider reach.

Students interact through video conferencing mode from RVIM Campus
On December 5, 2017, Dr. Seema D. Iyer , Full Bright Scholar from USA ,Associate Director and Research Assistant Professor for the Jacob France Institute in the University of Baltimore’s Merrick School of Business gave a Skype Presentation to the students of I Semester MBA on the theme of Small Area Collaborative Planning for Sustainable Bangalore. Where she emphasized on how do decisions get made in urban areas? and what are the roles played by different stakeholders involved in urban governance particularly during the master planning process for the year 2031
Communal Harmony Campaign Week
RVIM Centre for Social Responsibility had organized a series of events in the campus to observe Communal Harmony Week 2017 as per the guidance of National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. Street Play, Slogan Writing, Screening of Documentary Film ‘Ray of Hope’, Flag day-Fund raising for NFCH. Ms. Priyanka.M, RVIM Alumni Batch 2013-15 ,Ms. Zeeba Syed and Ms.Sushmita.M RVIM Alumni Batch 2014-16 created a poster slogan on November 25, 2017
The awareness programme was extended through facebook page of R.V. Institute of Management with a reach of around 2588.
